St Lawrence Rapids speed skatersTwenty skaters from the club competed at the Belleville meet on October 16th – a fantastic turnout with more than 40 personal bests being set.  Here are the race results (pdf).

Special congratulations to Megan Quenneville and Nathan Heuvel for joining the 60 second club.  Great work!

The Kingston ability meet is coming up.  It is a one day meet hosted by the Kingston Striders, and it is a fantastic “first meet” if you haven’t been to a meet before.

The meet is Saturday November 12th, but you need to get your entry form filled in and submitted to Heather Chartrand by Tuesday November 1st.  It’s a popular meet and they don’t accept late entries.

Here is a link to the entry form and meet details.  Note that each skater is required to bring their own helmet cover.

The Meets page has some ideas about what to expect if it is your first meet, as well as links to other meets coming up for the year.

I have done some work to migrate the web site into this new format which has these advantages:

  1. It is much easier to manage than the old site structure
  2. Updates are much simpler and therefore can be done sooner
  3. It’s easy to see the latest news and announcements on the front page
  4. You can subscribe to email updates – you get a single email at the end of the day if there are new news posts (see the Subscribe box on the right hand side).
  5. The news items have a comments section that you can use

Let me know if you have any comments, or if you are looking for something from the old site and can’t find it.
