Competition Helpful Hints

Competition Helpful Hints are quick tips to boost performance, stay focused, and succeed in competitive settings.

Regional Racing Series

This level of short track competition was formerly known as the Ability Meets. The new name reflects that skaters will be racing in assigned regions within the province: West, Central, East or Flex. Creating regions allows clubs within the region priority registration and allows the host to invite other clubs should there be insufficient registrations. A cap of 150 skaters per meet is required to ensure time to complete the racing program.

Ontario Provincial Racing Series

This level of short-track competition was formerly known as the Ontario Cup Racing Series. The new name reflects the scope of athletes attending this meet: from across the province. Skaters will qualify for the Provincial Racing Series using the ranking list established at the beginning of the season based on rankings at the end of the previous season. The primary goal of the Provincial Racing Series and the Provincial A Age Class Championships is to select Team Ontario for the national championships. Only top-ranked female skaters age 11 and up and top-ranked male skaters age 12 and up will be eligible to race.
