The SLSSC congratulates figure skater Alaine Chartrand for her recent capturing of the bronze medal at the Rostelecom Cup competition in Moscow. This is Alaine’s first ISU Grand Prix podium finish. Alaine is the sister of our competitive level skater, Andrew and daughter of Heather, our club secretary.

Eastern Regional Meet #3
The Quinte Speed Skating club will be hosting the Eastern Regional Meet #3 on November 30th, in Belleville. This meet is open to all non-Provincial series skaters. The announcement can be seen on the OSSA website. Registration forms (individual or family) must be completed and submitted to Heather, with payment, by November 19th.
Provincial Series Meet #2
The Clarington Speed Skating Club will be hosting the Provincial Series Meet #2 on Nov 22-23. The announcement can be viewed on the OSSA website. Registration forms (individual or family) must be submitted to Heather, by November 12th, 2014.
Please Note: The Canada Winter Games Trials will be held on Nov 21st at the Clarington arena. If you plan on trying out, the entry form must also be submitted to Heather by Nov 12th.
Provincial Series Meet #1 – Results
Congratulations to the club skaters that attended the Provincial Series Meet #2, this past weekend in Cambridge.
Congrats to Aidan VanBeek for taking top honours in the Group 2 Boys 3, Mixed Gender group and to Alphonse Ouimette for finishing 3rd in the Group 1 Men 1, Mixed Gender group.

Eastern Regional Meet #2
The Gloucester Concordes will be hosting Eastern Regional meet #2 on Sunday November 16th. This ability meet is open to all skaters not registered in the Provincial Series. The official announcement can be read on the OSSA website. The registration forms (individual or family) must be submitted, along with payment, to Heather by November 5th.
Short Track World Cup
The best Short Track Speed Skaters in the world will be in Montreal for the second World Cup of the season, November 14-16 at the Maurice-Richard Arena. Tickets can be purchased online, for the Saturday and Sunday races. The Friday night races are free to attend.

The Provincial Series will be commencing its season, for those who qualify, with the first meet scheduled for the weekend of November 1st & 2nd in Cambridge. Registration must be completed, and submitted to Heather, by October 22nd, 2014.
Eastern Regional Meet #1 – Results
Congrats to all the skaters that participated in the Eastern Regional Meet this past weekend, in Ottawa. New Personal Bests (PBs) were set by all skaters, as well, new distances were skated by all. A special congratulations to Ayrton Meier for winning a Silver medal (Juliet group) and Andrew Chartrand for winning a Bronze medal (Bravo group).

The Head Coach has put together a Welcome Club for all skaters. Please take the time to read it to familiarize yourself with the coaches goals and expectations for this season.
Off-ice
The club is offering off-ice training sessions this year. The schedule is as follows:
