The Barrie Speed Skating Club will be hosting the 4th (and last) Provincial series meet of the season on February 1-2, 2014. Information about the meet can be found on the OSSA website. The registration form and payment are due to Heather by Wednesday January 29th, 2014. Good luck to those who will be attending.
The Gatineau Speed Skating club would like to invite all Rapids to their meet on Saturday, January 25th. For more information, please read the Invitation. Registration form and payment can be submitted to Heather by Friday, January 17th.

The Ottawa Pacers will be hosting the Ontario Provincial Long Track Championship on January 18th & 19th at the Brewer Park Oval. Registration is to be completed online, then fill out the entry form and return it, with payment, to Heather by January 8th, 2014.

This is an Ability meet. Skaters will be divided into groups based on ability using the 500m or 333m time submitted.
Three events are scheduled for each group. Each skater will skate a heat and a final. The fastest times will place skaters in finals not finishing position in heat. Times not heat finish position determine if skater qualifies for primary, secondary, or tertiary final. The events (distances) will be suitable for the ages and skills of the skaters based on the group assignment. Nothing longer than 1000m for any division. Younger Skaters 222, 333, 500. Adults 500, 777, 1000.
Warm-ups: 10 am until 10:40 am by group; Racing begins at 11 am
Over the next few weeks, the following meets will be taking place. Please fill out the proper registration forms and submit them to Heather before the due date.

11 skaters made the trip to Kingston this past weekend to participate in the Janet Henderson Memorial Ladder meet. Overall, it was a fun day in the cold arena, where PB’s where set by most and 3 skaters took home awards in their age categories.
Congratulations to the 3 skaters that traveled to Clarington this past weekend to participate in the 1st Provincial Series meet of the season. The protocol for the event can be found on the OSSA website.

Congratulations to Nick and Chloe for winning Bronze Medals and to Emma Grace for joining the 60 second club with a time of 57.722 in the 500m distance. Cake was enjoyed by all who attended Tuesday’s practice.
